Fear and loathing for Haruka
She couldn't help but smile at Michiru when she gave her that
look.
Those shining eyes of the ocean embracing her own.. embracing the
heavens. A single tear fell from Michiru's eye; the sky senshi was
suddenly overcome by pain, by heartbreak. Michiru slowly, silently,
faded away into the darkness.
"Mich..ru.."
Deep blue eyes forced themselves open. 'Shimatta.. the same god-damn
dream.. Michiru..' Slightly hung-over, Haruka slowly sat up, head in
her hands. "agh.." How long had she been sleeping? Days? Weeks? Time
always seemed to pass so quickly, but now it seemed to crawl at a
snail's pace. Why did it seem that whenever she and Michiru could
finally embrace normal lives..Dammit. She needed to snap out of it.
This wasn't the Crystal Tokyo of years passed. She needed to focus.
How long could she lay there on the couch, sulking, drinking away
her sorrows? It was time to take action.
SailorMars walked the halls of the palace, the stark echo of her shoes on
stone the only thing breaking the silence. Long ago, that wouldn't have been
the case: the halls would have been filled with people, music and laughter,
the sounds of happiness reverbrating off of every available surface. They
had been of a greater number back then. But now ... now things were
different and she wasn't sure what was worse, the decimation of the senshi
ranks or the war itself.
She shook it off. This was no time to be nostalgic. She had a patrol she
had to get on. She quicked her pace a little until she noticed someone
moving in the shadows. Slowing to a stop, she pulled out one of her
banishment scrolls. The enemy had mysterious ways, and she wouldn't put it
past them to have infiltrated the palace.
"Who's there?" she called, hoping that she would not regret it.
The ashen blonde's head snapped toward the door. 'Who
could that be...? A youma perhaps?' She stood up,
slowly, carefully, making as little noise as possible.
She didn't want to give the youma any advantage. This
enemy, whoever they are, was obviously a strong
opponent. Whoever could kill Endymion, Venus and..
Neptune. Whoever could leave Crystal Tokyo the only dew
drop of life on this planet; was not one to be taken
lightly. "URANUS PLANET POWER.. MAKE UP!" In a flurry
of blue and gold light, fuku, tiara, gloves and boots
came into place. She stood by the door, waiting for the
potential enemy to creep closer.
Mars walked as quietly as she could towards what looked like an open door.
She was sure that she had heard a familliar voice a moment ago and any youma
would have attacked her by now. There was something different about what lay
beyond the barrier, there was a hostility there, but it wasn't the same as
that of any evil she had encountered before.
Still, she didn't want to give any possible enemy any leverage.
"Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen. Akuryou taisan!"
With a
flick of her wrist, Mars launched an evil banishment scroll through the
door. With any luck, the opposition would be stunned enough for her to
decide what to do next.
Uranus slightly flinched as she evaded the familiar
parchment scroll. A smirk arose on her lips. 'That's no
youma.' She stepped out from behind the door step, her
pale stern face looked slightly annoyed. "Shimatta..
it's only you", she scoffed, her slender arms
crossed. "What is it you're doing here, anyway? All
alone.. I could've killed you just now" Uranus' hard
cold glare softened just a bit. She didn't need to
quarrel with a commerade.
Mars breathed a sign of relief. She hadn't realized how paranoid she had
become over the course of this war, though she supposed that this was
something of a natural occurance.
"I could have handled you or any youma," she said, knowing that the
statement was more bravado than truth. She had been lucky this time, though
she didn't want to think about what would have happened if it hadn't been
Uranus behind the door. "Anyway, I was getting ready to go out on patrol.
The others aren't back yet ... no one's reported in ..." She didn't have
to
add that some of them may not return at all.
Uranus cocked a slanted smile at Mars' response. Mars never was a pushover.
However, these weren't like any youma they'd fought in the past. We'd lost
people... Michiru flashed through her mind again. "Agh.." she groaned
as she
held her head, her face twisted in pain. She couldn't think about Michiru
right now.. what good would it do? She had to focus- she had to make sure
Mars and herself stayed alive for now. She rubbed her head; her face looking
a bit more relieved, though it was obvious she was not okay. "Let's get
going
then. We should find the others as quickly as possible." She said as she
began walking off. She didn't want anyone to see her exterior soften.
Mental Incarseration
OOC: sorry if this post shows up more than once- i tried sending it
from my email browser but it didn't seem to be sending, so i'm
posting it at the webpage. Anyway, i'll do as Q suggested and
pretend Uranus was patrolling on her own, since Mars hasnt posted in
a long while. If someone wants to run in to Uranus *wink-wink*
please feel free to, as she is getting quite lonely ;_;
Uranus walked around the dark empty halls, halls that were once
filled with light and laughter.. and life. Her head still hurt
pretty badly- it was as if the throbbing was getting worse, like
someone beating her in the head repeatedly. "Agh..." She held her
head, her fingers combed through her ashen blonde hair. Where *was*
everyone? She stumbled down the hall, and stopped abruptly, leaning
on her shoulder against the wall. A sharp image flashed through her
mind. an image of Michiru screaming in pain at her last moment of
life. She hit her head , as though it could make it stop. She
crumpled to the ground, in a fetal position; burying her head in her
knees. She had to get out of this place; it was driving her insane.
What was that promise that Michiru and herself had made? If one were
to die and the other to live.. keep going. Protect the princess at
all costs. She scoffed to herself. And where is the princess??
can't i even do that much? She hurt all over. Her body felt
like it had been trampled over. Her mind was racing and throbbing
all at once. She closed her eyes; she wanted it all to melt away.
Slowly, she drifted in to an almost coma-like sleep. "Michiru..."
